An American film actress from the silent era of cinema who also witnessed the beginnings of the sound era, Eleanor Boardman was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, on August 19, 1898. She won the Photoplay Award in 1926, 1927, 1929, and 1931, and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960 for her contributions to film. She was educated in Philadelphia and began acting in theater. In 1922, she worked in silent films, and the following year she landed leading roles after being included in the WAMPAS Baby Star list. Some of Eleanor Boardman's most notable film credits include: Bardelys the Magnificent (1926), Souls for Sale (1923), The Crowd (1928), and The Circle (1925). She died in Santa Barbara, California, USA, on December 12, 1991, at the age of 93.
