In the early 1940s, he worked in cinema, performing additional and then supporting roles, but he achieved greater success on television. He was a lifelong member of the Actor’s Studio. He is known for North by Northwest (1959), Bang the Drum Slowly (1973), and Party Girl (1958). He died in New York City, USA, on July 6, 1973, at the age of 63.
