In the early fifties, he could not get a job as an actor, and after a year of selling clothing door-to-door, he left for the United Kingdom to live and work there for the rest of his life. Among his notable works are: The Avengers (1965), The Belles of St. Trinian's (1954), and The Invisible Man (1958). He died in Cornwall, England, on March 17, 2008.
