British actress and author, born in Brixton, London, on November 5, 1949 as Linda Mary Drinkwater. In 1995, she got married to actor Brian Murphy. Her father was a comedian magician and leader of a comedy troupe, and her mother was a nurse. She left school at an early age, and worked in the club theater and then moved between various theaters in England, where she presented Shakespeare works and comedies. She wrote a successful series of crime novels, and appeared in many short films and commercials. Among her notable works are: Hi-de-Hi! (1984-1988), Harry and Cosh (1999-2003), and Doctors (2004-2014).
