British television and film actor, born in 1931 in Shropshire, England. He left school and worked in the office of an engineering company, and worked in Staffordshire County Council. After ending his military service, he joined the accounting department of a packing company in London. He used to spend his spare time performing with amateurs, before turning professional at the age of 36. His notable works include: Moonbase 3 (1973), Doctor Who (1970-1989), and The Agatha Christie Hour (1982).
