Shaimaa Saied |
An Iraqi director and actor, born in Baghdad. He graduated from the Institute of Fine Arts in 1975, then graduated from the Department of Theater, Directing Branch, College of Fine Arts, University of Baghdad. He became a member of the Iraqi Artists Syndicate in 1975, then studied at the Iraqi Institute of Tonal Studies. He founded the Al-Sharq Theater in 1989, and was a founding member of the Al-Najah Theater Ensemble in 1988.
He presented more than 300 works on radio, between directing and writing. He also presented several research papers and studies for the graduate students of the Institute of Fine Arts and the College of Fine Arts. He received several appreciation and honorary certificates from the Artists Syndicate and Arab cultural and artistic organizations. He appeared in numerous plays, such as Ghosts, Umm Khalil, and Prisoner 95. He was the first Iraqi stage actor to present a play after the occupation of Iraq in 2003 in Al-Shabandar Café (al-Mutanabbi Street), which was titled The Price of Freedom.
