An American actor, born on January 10, 1882, in Veracruz, Mexico, as Charles Silas Richard Trowbridge. He was born to American parents and learned in Napa, California, and Hawaii. After receiving his architectural degree from Stanford University, he gave it up to pursue a career in acting. He trained at the Alcazar Theatre in San Francisco and played several regional roles before appearing on Broadway in 1913. He appeared in several Broadway productions while also participating in silent films until 1922, when he disappeared from the screen. He returned in 1931 and continued his film career until the late fifties, in which he played various roles such as a doctor, a president, or a lawyer. Among his notable works are The Paleface (1948), Tarzan and the Huntress (1947), and Valley of the Zombies (1946). He was married to Helen V. Luttrell until he passed away at the age of 85 on October 30, 1967, in Los Angeles, California, USA.
