A Russian military pilot and cosmonaut, born on April 1, 1973 in Chukhiv, Ukraine, he is the first second-generation cosmonaut and the son of cosmonaut Alexander Volkov. Volkov graduated from Star City High School in 1990 and entered the Tambov Air Force Academy of Pilots, graduating in 1995 with the degree of pilot-engineer. Volkov was awarded the Hero of the Russian Federation medal and medals of the Russian Armed Forces, having mastered the Tupolev Tu-134, Ilyushin Il-18, L-39, and L-29 aircraft. |
