Bob Kortman was a prolific film actor, who worked in the silent and sound film eras, playing the roles of henchmen and villains, mostly in Westerns, in addition to appearing in some Laurel and Hardy comedies. Born to a cattle rancher, Bob Kortman spent 6 years in the United States Cavalry and fought with the United States Army during World War I. After quitting acting, he served as president of a cooperative water company in California. He died at the age of 79 in Long Beach, California, USA, on March 13, 1967, of cancer.
