British actor and voice actor, born in Leeds, United Kingdom. Among his most important works are Violent Playground (1958), The Secret Place (1957), Doctor Who (1966), and Tom Jones (1963). He trained as an electrical and architectural engineer, and while serving in the Royal Artillery in India, he became interested in the performing arts. After his discharge from the army, he joined a theater workshop in Manchester. He married Ann Shirley Jones, who remained with him until her death. He died in Lees, Hampshire, England, United Kingdom, on November 16, 2018, at the age of 93.
