"Winter of Discontent" Selected by Egyptian Committee for Oscar Submission

Ibrahim El Batout's " El Sheta Eli Fat" (Winter of Discontent) has been selected by the Egyptian nomination committee for Oscar submissions in the foreign film category. The film earned more votes than its two competitors, Maggie Morgan's "Asham" and "Harag w Marag."

The committee comprises of actor Khaled el Sawy, producer Mohammed Eladl, critic Samir Farid, critic Tarek el Shinnawi, producer Hussein el Qala, and director Sherif Arafa.

Amr Waked, star and co-producer of the political thriller about the 2011 revolution, is supposed to take the necessary measures to send a translated copy of the film to the Academy Awards administration by the first of October.

"El Sheta Eli Fat" also stars Farah Youssef, Salah Elhanafi and Tamer Abdel Hamid.
