Shaimaa Saied	In sixth century Mecca, Prophet Mohamed receives his first revelation from God as a messenger. Three years later, he's not alone in his quest and publicly declares his prophecy. Mohamed is fought by Abu Sufian and his wife Hind, rulers of Mecca. Mohamed's followers are hunted and tortured but he continues his calling. 321

Mohamed is fought by Abu Sufian and his wife Hind, rulers of Mecca. Mohamed's followers are hunted and tortured. Hamza, Mohamed's cousin, joins him in spreading the prophecy. By the time Mecca leaders decided to kill the new messenger, he leaves for Medina, a smaller city in the Arab peninsula. In Medina the prophet is warmly received and protected. Mohamed establishes a community of believers there, supported by his followers from both Mecca and Medina. The first war is fought with Mecca (The Battle of Badr). Muslims in Medina win their first battle during which Hamza kills a member of Hind's family. Mecca sends another army to fight Muslims near Medina, this time winning the battle. Hamza is killed in this battle and his body is paraded around as revenge. Hind cuts through his stomach open, removes his liver and takes a bite from it. A truce is then made between the Muslims and the Quraish, the ruling tribe of Mecca. Muslims take Mecca eventually and Islam prevails in the whole peninsula. 1183
