The two become involved but when Awatif brings up the idea of marriage, he puts the breaks on the relationship. When Awatif finds out that Ahmed is engaged to another woman, Hanna, she falsely accuses him of embezzling from one of his clients. As a result Ahmed is fired from his company and starts working at the tannery Awatif owns. After Ahmed discovers that Awatif was responsible for the accusation, he takes advantage of her illiteracy and makes her sign a document giving up the rights to her deceased husband’s assets to her sons.
