A quarrel occurs between Fahima and the mayor's wife, Hafiza, who complains to mayor Atman about Fatma's mistreatment of her. Fatma takes her husband's breakfast and heads to the mill to give it to him, but she is saddened by the fact that they don't have enough food for the rest of the family.

Mayor Atman tries to pressure Mahrous into selling his land for an insignificant sum of money, and he threatens to use force if Mahrous refuses. Mahrous is accused of stealing a cattle, but he escapes before getting caught. Abu El-Ela fights with his friends and gets injured.

The mayor asks Fatma to work at his house to help his wife Hafiza. Fahima has her fifth child, which makes Hafiza jealous. Nazima tells her that Fahima is behind her not having kids.

After Atman tries to flirt with Fatma, Hafiza throws her out. Atman takes the doctor to treat Abu El-Ela's injured foot, and Fatma finds herself forced to return to work at Atman's.

Atman's brother tries to convince him to marry again because Hafiza is barren. After a lot of pleading, Hafiza lets Fatma go home to spend the Eid (Muslim's Holy Feast celebrations) with her family.

The Sheikh of the mosque asks mayor Atman to look into the matter of Rawyia who's trying to marry the town's girls to some strangers in exchange for money. Hafiza tells Atman that she's against his marriage to Fatma.

Atman offers Abu El-Ela to manage his land for a large sum of money. Abu El-Ela is arrested after Mayor Atman discovers that he is harboring Mahrous in his home.

The Deputy Mayor, Mabrouk, tells Abu El-Ela that he has begged the Mayor to release him. After Rawyia is arrested for prostitution, the Sheriff releases her after she invites him to spend a day at her house.

Atman offers to give Abu El-Ela a new house in exchange for divorcing Fatma, and Abu El-Ela, enraged, tries to kill him. Abu El-Ela tells the maid Hanan to tell Fatma to run away from town.

Abu El-Ela escapes to Rawyia's house, and Fatma disguises as a man and goes to see him. Mayor Atman is still trying to persuade Hafiza that he should marry someone else so that they can have children, and promises to register the baby in her name.

After Mahrous gets killed, Abu El-Ela is falsely accused of his murder. Atman forces his guards to testify against Abu El-Ela.

After Atman succeeds in framing Abu El-Ela with Mahrous's murder and Abu El-Ela's mother passes away, Fatma gives in to Atman's demands and asks Abu El-Ela to divorce her.

The Sheriff is still trying to court Rawiya, but she pushes him away every time. Fatma decides to confront Mayor Atman and informs Sheikh Mabrouk of her consent to the marriage.

Abu El-Ela is forced to divorce Fatma, and he goes to Sheikh Mahmoud to see his kids. Rawyia tells Fatma that she loves Abu El-Ela.

Fatma goes to Cairo to get all her needs for the wedding, and the mayor promises to fulfill all her wishes and meet her demands.

The Mayor accuses his brother's wife, Fahima, of stealing Hafiza's necklace. Abu El-Ela asks Rawyia to marry him.

Mayor Atman tries to speed up his wedding to Fatma. Fatma finds out that Abu El-Ela has married Rawyia.

When she learns of Abu El-Ela's wedding to Rawyia, Fatma gets jealous, and to bring an end to her jealousy, she decides to move forward with her marriage to Mayor Atman.

Rawyia takes Abu El-Ela to Cairo and gives him a makeover. She tries to get the Pasha to help Abu El-Ela stand up to the Mayor and the Sheriff and end their tyrannical practices.

Upon learning that Atman planted drugs at Rawyia's house, Fatma heads to Abu El-Ela and Rawyia and they cooperate for one cause: taking revenge on Atman. Elwan, Atman's brother, decides to reclaim his share in the inheritance that Atman seized forcibly.

Fatma makes another copy of the keys of Atman's safe and asks him to get her a new house. Rawyia asks one of the wealthy men to help Abu El-Ela find a job.

Fatma manages to trick Atman into owning all the land in town. The guard Hassan succeeds in leaving his work with the Mayor.

Atman asks Sheikh Mabrouk to get close to Rawyia to stop her from going ahead with her plan. Hassan wants to marry Rawyia's maid, Hanan. The new Sheikh admires Manara.

Hafiza tells Atman that it is confirmed she's not barren. Simultaneously, Fatma tells him she's pregnant. Rawyia convinces Abu El-Ela that the marriage of minors isn't criminalized, and he is convinced and starts working with her in that foul project.

Atman is suspicious of Fatma's pregnancy and asks her to go with him to the doctor. Rawyia and Abu El-Ela are arrested and he gets deported to the Mayor's house.

The Mayor asks Sheikh Mabrouk to leave his house to establish a sewing workshop in its place. Fatma accuses Hafiza of stealing some of the Mayor's documents. The Sheriff negotiates with Abu El-Ela and Rawyia to get rid of the Mayor.

Fatma succeeds in making the Mayor doubt everyone around him, including Hafiza. She also suggests the Mayor to seize maid Hamdiya's house and turn it into a livestock barn.

In an attempt to atone for her sins, Hafiza decides to memorize the Holy Qur’an. Elwan reveals to Atman that Fatma asked him to kill Atman. Amid all the hatred and revenge that have consumed Fatma, she neglects her young children, and her daughter, Zeinab, gets sick.

The Sheriff accuses the Mayor of exploiting the people of the village and seizing their land in exchange for saving their children from fighting in fearsome battles. The villagers decide to get rid of the Mayor and his tyranny. Maid Hamdyia attacks Fatma and almost kills her.

The villagers start stealing everything the Mayor owns. Fatma escapes after stealing the Mayor's safe. Chaos spreads across town. Sheikh Issa and Hamdyia are killed. Fatma's son dies shortly after his birth, and the Mayor loses his mind.
