As his planet Krypton crumbles, the infant Kal-El survives by the machinations of his father and arrives on Earth to be raised by a kindly couple. As he grows up as Clark Kent, he utilizes his superpowers to defend the people of Earth against anyone who means them harm.
The legendary super hero makes a dangerous decision to give up his powers to be with his love, journalist Lois Lane. Meanwhile three notorious criminals from planet Krypton escape to seek revenge on Superman and to destroy planet Earth, with the help of Lex Luthor.
Ross Webster, a businessman, collaborates with a computer genius to carry out his evil plans, but when his plans are thwarted by Superman, he decides to use his weakness against him.
The Man of Steel faces a new threat as his arch nemesis Lex Luthor creates the radiation-charged Nuclear Man, and it's up to Superman to save the world from a nuclear war.
Five years after Superman left Earth to investigate if Krypton is still intact, he returns to a much-changed world where his former love, Lois Lane, has moved on, and the people of Earth have decided that they do not need Superman.
