After a terminal lung cancer diagnosis, chemistry teacher Walter White decides to start a crystal meth business and enlists the help of ex-student Jesse Pinkman.

Walter and Jesse are left with a dead body and a prisoner after their first drug deal goes awry. Meanwhile, Walter's wife Skyler grows suspicious of his actions.

Walt and Jesse clean up after what happened in the bathtub and Walter must decide what they should do with Krazy-8, their prisoner.

Walt reveals his diagnosis to the rest of his family. Meanwhile, Jesse tries to fix things with his own parents.

Walt meets everyone's attempts to help him during his illness with rejection. Meanwhile, Jesse does everything he can to replicate Walt's meth, assisted by an old friend.

Faced by the difficult side effects and high cost of his cancer treatment, Walter tells Jesse he must find a wholesaler for their meth, which doesn't end well.

Walter and Jesse are faced with some difficulties while trying to make more meth every week for Tuco. On the other hand, Skyler is shocked to realize her sister is a shoplifter.
