As the young woman Lara struggles to deal with her complicated love life, she crosses paths with the poet and doctor Yuri Zhivago, who forever changes her life. But as the two have their own families, World War I reunites them when Zhivago is a battlefield doctor and Lara is serving as a nurse.

As Zhivago lives with his wife Lara and son Sasha in Moscow after the War ends, fate brings him back to Lara who becomes pregnant with his child. But as danger surrounds the two lovers, their love story comes to a tragic end.
