When Saleh falls ill, he asks his brother Sobhy to transfer the house's ownership to his wife Bassima. The greedy Sobhy refuses and Sa'eid opposes his father. The house's ownership is transferred to Bassima.

When Saleh dies, Bassima decides to return to her family in Aleppo. Mary learns that the Ottomans are torturing Pietro and decides to interfere.

Fayza incites her husband Sobhy against Bassima. Mary visits Pietro. Zuhria convinces Bassima to start working as a seamstress after Sobhy refuses to give her Saleh's pension. Sa'eid decides to help Bassima behind his father's back.

Mary enlists the consul's help after Pietro gets deported to the Levant. Bassima rejects the sympathy of the neighborhood people and starts working.

Sobhy decides to marry Bassima but Fayza opposes his decision. Zubaida gets ready for her wedding. Olfat talks to her father about marrying Bassima but he refuses.

Zubaida and Kaslan wed. Mary offers Bassima a job as a cook in Nazek's house. Sobhy learns that Saleh wrote the house over to Bassima and refuses to give her her rightful inheritance.

Bassima starts working. Zuhria tells the Sheikh that she wants to leave her husband. Mary succeeds in getting Pietro released.

Zubaida confirms that she was tricked into marrying Kaslan after she learns that his family is ill-reputed due to their enslavement of concubines and that Kaslan loves the concubine Sarah.

Mary is disturbed when Gamal Pasha slanders her for helping Pietro. Bassima defends Mary.

Nazek and Farida are told to leave the Levant after they incite the people against the government. Bassima learns that her family passed away. Sobhy decides to take Bassima's daughters from her.

When Kaslan tells his parents that Sarah is pregnant, they try to prevent him from having an illegitimate child with a concubine. Zubaida asks for a divorce but Kaslan refuses. When Bassima refuses to marry Sobhy, he threatens to take her daughters away.

Bassima enrolls her daughters in school. Zubaida's maid warns her when she decides to run away. Sa'eid tries to help Bassima.

Sobhy asks Abu Abdu (Abdu's father) for his daughter Olfat's hand. As Kaslan learns of his sister's scheme, his family learns that he is an alcoholic. Sarah reprimands Kaslan after his family aborts her.

As Mary tries to meet Gamal Pasha to solve Pietro's problem, he refuses to see her. Kaslan tells Zubaida that his father forced him to marry her but he is in love with Sarah. Soraya decides to help Zubaida run away.

Olfat agrees to marry Sobhy. Mary is shocked when Gamal Pasha orders the execution of all the revolutionary youth, including Pietro. Bassima is thrilled when her sister Salima returns.

When Sobhy tries to take Bassima's daughters away, Fayze decides to stand by Bassima. Zubaida and Soraya put their escape plan into effect.

Sobhy learns that his son Sa'eid has been helping Bassima. Mary tries to stop the revolutionary youth's execution. Zubaida escapes the palace.

Sarah is arrested after Zubaida runs away. Zubaida goes to her family house with her aunt Soraya. The Ottomans try to take control of the country.

Pietro is executed. Bassima enrolls her daughters in a boarding school to prevent Sobhy from taking them.

Sobhy marries Olfat. Mary goes through a rough patch after Pietro's execution. The Syrians defeat the Ottomans who leave the country. Sobhy grows upset with Olfat for failing to get pregnant.

Olfat asks Salima to marry Abu Abdu. Kaslan returns to the Levant with his family. Soraya demands her rights from Sobhy.

Sobhy threatens Sa'eid to get him to stay away from Bassima and her daughters. Nizar Pasha asks Sobhy to convince Zubaida to go back to Kaslan, but Zubaida refuses.

Bassima tells Olfat that Sobhy is the reason she hasn't gotten pregnant. Mary interviews Prince Faysal who announces that the country will be divided into different regions.

Sa'eid joins the army. When Zubaida tells Sa'eid that Nizar Pasha has betrayed the Levant, Sa'eid threatens him. Soraya convinces Sobhy to approve Sa'eid and Samiha's marriage.

Salima and Abu Abdu wed. Abdu returns to the neighborhood after years of absence. Sobhy gives back Soraya's inheritance but refuses to do the same for Bassima and her daughters.

Abdu tells his family that his brother Farid died at war. Nizar Pasha tells his family that he lost everything. Kaslan tries to reconcile with Zubaida.

Abdu is upset with Sobhy for how he is treating Olfat. Kaslan apologizes to Zubaida. Sobhy leaves Olfat. Bassima approves Sa'eid and Samiha's marriage.

Warda learns that her fiancé died. Samiha and Sa'eid wed. Zubaida goes back to Kaslan.

Mary encourages Syrian women to demand their rights and fight for their country's independence. Abdu proposes to Bassima. Soraya is shocked when she learns that Sobhy forged the inheritance documents.

Sa'eid tells Zubaida about their father's bad reputation. Warda kills herself before she marries Sa'eid. Abdu dies at war. Mary refuses to wed out of respect for her fiancé's memory.
