    Dalia Saad

    An American actor, born in Niagara Falls, New York, on February 27, 1905. He enrolled at Cornell University and studied languages ​​with the aim of teaching them, but joined the Cornell Drama Club, became its president in his first year, and graduated from the university with honors in 1927. He first appeared on Broadway in 1929, then joined the Group Theatre in New York, which was founded by Lee Strasberg, and appeared in their first production, The House of Connelly. He presented with Paramount his first film, The Wiser Sex (1932), then signed a contract with MGM and moved to Hollywood and presented Today We Live (1933) opposite Joan Crawford, whom he married in 1935, but they got divorced in 1939. Franchot then went back to Broadway, but was forced to return to Hollywood to complete his contract with MGM until 1944. He starred in the war film Five Graves to Cairo (1943), then Phantom Lady (1944), after which he started working as a producer. Then he turned to the television and theater and left Hollywood for 10 years, but he returned again to Hollywood and presented his last film The High Commissioner (1968). Franchot Tone was nominated for an Academy Award in 1936 for Mutiny on the Bounty (1935) and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960 for his film work. His most notable work includes Mutiny on the Bounty (1935), Dangerous (1935), Fast and Furious (1939), and Phantom Lady (1944). He died in New York on September 18, 1968, of lung cancer.
