After Leo and his mom, Tasha, move in with her new husband, wealthy inventor Donald Davenport, Leo stumbles upon a secret lab in his step-father's house where three bionic teens called Chase, Adam, and Bree live.

Donald resolves to send the bionic teens, known as the Lab Rats, to a secret, faraway facility; however, they hatch a plan to be able to stay with their new friend, Leo.

As Donald allows the Lab Rats to go to high school, he feels worried about Chase's Commando App, which causes his aggressive alternative self to arise. Indeed, Donald's fears come true as Chase turns into the more confrontational Spike when he runs into bullies at school.

As Leo can't muster up the courage to ask his crush to the approaching school dance, Adam and Chase decide to come to his aid, making him appear chivalrous in front of her.

The bionic teens face their first real challenge when an unstoppable train with lethal chemicals onboard closes in on a town, forcing them to take action.

Unsatisfied with a grade he got, Chase decides to run for Student of the Semester. When Chase's ideas fail to gain the students' favor, Adam steps in to save the day, but Chase's ungratefulness and conceit lead to a clash between them.

As Tasha's mom, the overcritical Rose, pays the family a visit, Tasha wants to make sure there won't be any monkey business in the lab, but things don't go as planned.

With Tasha attending an awards ceremony on the night of Leo's birthday, she decides to throw him a party the next night, whereupon the bionic teens take it upon themselves to throw Leo a surprise party to celebrate his birthday but fail to invite the birthday boy.

As Leo's high school organizes a fierce competition known as the Death Spiral Smackdown, Leo decides to team up with Adam, taking advantage of his bionic power to defeat other teams, but things take an unexpected turn when Leo learns that he must face Adam in the final round.

Donald and Leo's newfound father-son bond is tested when Donald divulges a secret Leo told him to Tasha; meanwhile, Bree becomes fed up with Adam and Chase, whereupon she demands a room of her own.

As a disaster threatens to destroy the whole world, the Lab Rats set out to deal with it; however, Leo comes from the future to warn Donald against sending the bionic teens on this mission, which they decide to embark on anyway.

Despite Donald’s warning, the teens switch their superpower chips with each other, after which they cause Leo and Principal Perry to be stuck inside an elevator during a drill.

Donald and Tasha set out for Australia, leaving Leo and the Lab Rats alone in the house, whereupon Leo causes the bionic teens to malfunction as he inadvertently turns on a device of his stepdad’s.

When the bionic teens find out that Leo does chores and gets an allowance, they decide they want to earn money as well, whereupon they organize a yard sale, but things don’t go well as they end up selling a valuable item that belongs to Tasha.

The family heads to the beach to get away from technology after Tasha made a fuss about Donald's obsession with it; however, a solar flare throws a monkey wrench into their plans and forces them to stay inside the RV, which also serves as a mobile lab.

Trying to impress Janelle, Leo decides to face off a 5-time school champ in a one-on-one basketball game as he’s planning to use one of Donald’s gadgets in order to win; meanwhile, Bree and Adam vie for a place on the cheerleading team.

In an attempt to get Leo to stop playing video games, Tasha asks Donald to make Leo his lab assistant, which doesn’t go so well, so Donald tasks him with observing a computer download, whereupon Leo disables the firewall, causing Eddy to turn evil.

After Principal Perry has surveillance cameras installed in school, the Lab Rats worry that their superpowers might be exposed.

As Marcus, a new student, arrives in school, Adam and Chase befriend him, after which the three form a band, leaving Leo feeling bitter and jealous, but when Marcus does something terrible and lets Leo take the blame for it, Leo’s bitterness seems warranted.

After Marcus manages to convince the family to let him stay with them for the weekend, an emergency comes up that requires the teens to go to space, whereupon Leo does his best to divert Marcus’s attention from their absence, not realizing Marcus’s true intentions.
