He had a penchant for Shakespearean roles, and in his later years, he lectured on Shakespeare at Los Angeles University College. He participated in silent films until the advent of talkies, then his career declined, but he remained in demand as an extra and supporting actor in films. He died in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, USA, on February 9, 1947.
